George Brouillette

Liberator of South Limburg

Born: October 2, 1921
Location: Holyoke, Massachusetts

Family

George was the
son of Marie
Eugenie Auglor
‘Oglore’ Brouillette
and a unknown father.
when George was born his
mother was only 18 years old.
It appears that she could not take care of little George,
so he was "adopted" by his grandmother Marie.

The fact that George's biological mother was Oglore
kept from him and from others.
His half-brother Raymond and half-sister Rita were
Oglore's children after her marriage to Sylvio Peloquin.
They found out after his death that George was their half-brother.
Until then they had always thought he was a cousin.

Growing up in Holyoke

George grew up with his grandmother and
his aunt Yvonne Marie in the town of Holyoke
Massachusetts. Although George and Raymond
did not know they were half-
brothers, they very often played, fished, swam
and played sport together.
They were particularly good at baseball.

After two years of College George
started working at D. Mackintosh &
Sons
, for textiles.
He probably worked in the
mill used to drive the machines.
The textile industry was very important
in Holyoke and other
cities in Massachusetts.
